Klaussner's purchase of two sofa specialty chains isn't the first retail venture for the manufacturer. In 1997, the company invested $5 million in Woodbury, N.Y.-based Jennifer Convertibles for a nearly 20% stake in the sofa-sleeper and upholstery specialist.
