High Point — Fabric supplier Culp and Atlanta-based retailer Havertys are joining a pair of widely followed stock market indexes.
Culp expects to be added on July 1 to the Russell 2000, an index published by investment services firm Frank Russell Co. Russell makes periodic adjustments to be sure it ranks the largest U.S. companies by market capitalization.
"We are very pleased that our shares have been selected to be added to this prominent stock market index," said Rob Culp, Culp's chief executive officer. "We believe inclusion in the Russell 2000 Index should increase investor interest in Culp and thereby enhance the marketability of our shares."
Havertys was added last week to the Standard & Poor's SmallCap 600 Index, in the GICS Specialty Store sub-industry. Havertys and software company TALX Corp. replaced a pair of companies that S&P dropped.
