    The Bay
    TORONTO — The Bay has shifted some responsibilities in its furniture and bedding buying team following the departure of John Ziokowski, who had been the department store chain's bedding buyer.
    Laurie Sorenson will take on responsibility for The Sleep Shop in addition to her duties as rug and accessories buyer. Lynda Stein remains responsible for upholstery and occasional, and Christine Buckman for case goods.
    All report to Alixe MacRae, divisional merchandise manager for furniture, appliances and electronics.

    Pacific Furniture Dealers
    VANCOUVER , Wash. —Stuart Shliefer has been elected chairman of the Pacific Furniture Dealers, a buying group for 69 retailers in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah, Washington and northern California.
    Shliefer, of Shliefer Furniture in Portland, Ore., succeeds Judy Blackledge of Blackledge Furniture in Corvallis, Ore.
    Other officers elected at the group's annual meeting are Leonard Johnson, Johnson's Furniture, Newberg, Ore., president; Dave Cavitt, Sadlers, Anchorage, Alaska, vice president; Dale Basso, Globe Furniture, LaGrande, Ore., treasurer; and Al Lyon, Lyon's Furniture, Mount Vernon, Wash., secretary.

    Campbell Leather
    WILMINGTON , N.C. —John Schaeffer, based in La Grange, Texas, has been named Top Salesman in 2001's fourth quarter by Campbell Leather Sales, a marketer of Italian leather upholstery here.
    Ficks Reed
    CINCINNATI —Ellen Saenger has been named to the new post of director, hospitality contract sales at Ficks Reed, a maker of high-end wicker and rattan furniture.
    Saenger has been a consultant to Ficks Reed for the past two years. Previously, she has worked with trade associations as a legislative affairs specialist, and with the President's Domestic Council at the White House.
    Global Textile Alliance
    COLFAX , N.C. —Chadd Coltrain and Karen Shackel have joined Global Textile Alliance's sales and marketing team.
    Coltrain will have sales and marketing responsibilities for mattress ticking accounts in the Midwest and on the East Coast. Shackel will be responsible for mattress ticking accounts for the West Coast and Canada.
    Global Textile Alliance is a new international and domestic mill-direct sourcing, marketing and distributing company serving the upholstery, mattress ticking, contract and soft consumer goods markets.
