American attitude

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, October 15, 2001

After a series of markets full of traditional European and exotic mixed-media style themes, several manufacturers are coming home for inspiration with new takes on Mission and Shaker, plus a round of introductions reminiscent of the great outdoors through design details or a more refined take on lodge ambience.

From Klaussner's Dick Idol Home collection, wildlife artist Dick Idol based the panels of this armoire, top, on his work "Autumn Legends."
Christopher Lowell is bringing new upholstery pieces to Flexsteel, such as the backless sofa, above left.
The solid Appalachian cherry Gramercy writing desk, above right, from Tom Seely Furniture's Gat Creek line, is American made in classic American style.
