Pacific Green targets West Coast retailers

By Joan Gunin -- Furniture Today, October 15, 2001

Ten-year-old furniture producer Pacific Green exhibited in San Francisco for the first time at the summer market, targeting limited West Coast distribution for its bedroom, dining room, leather upholstery and occasional furniture, crafted from reinforced palmwood produced in Fiji.

"We want to build relationships with stores on an individual basis," said owner Peter Ryan.

Contemporary in style, pieces emphasize such traditional accents as nautical knots and rope lacing threaded through individual wood slats. A sofa and two chairs would retail for about $5,000, Ryan said.

The California-based company currently exports to Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand, France, Japan and Korea. It is looking to expand its West Coast distribution to include San Francisco, Los Angeles and Seattle.

For California dealers, linen upholstery covers will be added along with New Zealand leathers, Ryan said.

Pacific Green is relocating its warehouse from Culver City, Calif., to a double-tiered facility in Ventura.
