Lane, Tempur-Pedic offering joint recliner lines

HIGH POINT — Lane and Tempur-Pedic have teamed up for a new product aimed at expanding distribution avenues for both.
Lane is using Tempur-Pedic's patented Tempur foam in two lines of recliners. The products are featured in both the Tempur-Pedic and Lane showrooms at market.
The first line involves Lane's LeatherRest contemporary chairs and ottomans, with the joint products called Tempur-Rest by Lane. Retail price points are in the $1,199 to $1,299 range.
The second category features European contemporary styling and is called Relax Line by Lane. This group is offered with both a manual and power reclining option, and feature a loose lumbar pillow, adjustable headrest and adjustable ottoman. The retail price point is about $1,999.
"The strategy is to leverage the significant strengths of both Lane and Tempur-Pedic," said Bob Young, Lane merchandise manager/recliners. "Lane has the brand recognition and broad retail distribution with traditional furniture retail accounts while Tempur-Pedic has penetration in specialty retail accounts."
Tempur-Pedic's distribution includes such well-known stores as Brookstone and Relax the Back.
Young said that initially "the most logical placement of these chairs will be to those dealers who currently sell Tempur products. Tempur is enjoying major retail success with its existing line of products, so these new seating products will offer dealers a logical expansion of their current assortment."
