LOS ANGELES — The second annual William Hansen Sandberg Memorial Golf Tournament raised $45,000 for scholarships and medical research.
Case goods manufacturer Sandberg Furniture organized the tournament in memory of the late Bill Sandberg, who was president of the family-owned company. He died in 1999 after a long struggle with a rare neuromuscular disease.
The event was held in September at the Sea Cliff Country Club in Huntington Beach, Calif.
"We had over 100 golfers for a beautiful day of fun, laughs and memories of Bill," said John Sandberg, president of the company and Bill Sandberg's brother.
More than 100 guests joined the golfers for a dinner and silent auction. Proceeds will provide scholarships at the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California, and help fund research on neurological diseases.
