Charles Stapp, Manor House founder

KENNEWICK, Wash. — Retired retailer Charles Stapp, former president of Koos Bros., later Huffman Koos, and founder of Manor House Furniture in California and Nevada, has died. He was 80.

An Alabama native and a Navy frogman during World War II, Stapp began his furniture career at Koos Bros. in New Jersey, and in 1960 became president of the company. He left in 1971 to start Manor House Furniture.

He also owned an orchid farm in Costa Rica for many years.

He was a past president of the National Home Furnishings Assn. and also of the New Jersey Home Furnishings Assn. In 1966, he received the Brotherhood Award from the National Conference of Christians and Jews for advancing the cause of human rights.

Survivors include three sons, a daughter, a sister, 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Milton Jacobson, veteran sales rep

BURNSVILLE, Minn. — Retired furniture sales representative Milton Emery Jacobson has died. He was 82.

Jacobson worked as a rep for Hooker Furniture and other manufacturers for 48 years and was a past president of the International Home Furnishings Representatives Assn.

Jacobson is survived by his wife, six children, 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
