Bloomie's launching Federal line

New York — New York— Federated department store Bloomingdale's will launch here this week a Federal-style furniture line called the America Collection in collaboration with New York's American Folk Art Museum.
The exclusive collection was created by Tricia Foley, designer and author, drawing on the pure, functional design elements of the Federal period (1790-1815) as preserved in the museum's collection and archives.
"We picked Federal because of its clean design and distinctive detailing," said Lester Gribetz, vice president, home furnishings fashion director. "Each of the 27 pieces honors America and its history of fine furniture."
The furniture, encompassing living room, dining room and bedroom, is made by Henredon. Finishes include mahogany, period rubbed black, rustic cream and green. Overall, the color star will be buttercup with touches of blue, Gribetz said.
The America Collection will be featured in a 4,000-square-foot house that has been built on the furniture floor of Bloomie's flagship store here. The house also will showcase rooms by Ralph Lauren and by Larry Laslo for Ferguson Copeland in collaboration with the store's design studio.
All Bloomingdale's stores with furniture will display the America Collection.
