TORONTO — TORONTO — Sofas International, the contemporary upholstery division of Shermag, has won the Canadian Home Furnishings Award's Grand Medallion for the second consecutive year, this time for its Keep It Simple Sofa, or KISS.
The CHFA program, organized by the Ontario Furniture Manufacturers Assn. in collaboration with the Quebec Furniture Manufacturers Assn. and Furniture West, celebrates excellence in the design, manufacturing and marketing of Canadian household furniture.
The program, the successor to the Trillium Awards, is in its second year, and winners are selected by a panel of 15 retailers from across the country. The Grand Medallion is awarded to the entry receiving the highest point score from the jury, regardless of the category. The Keep It Simple Sofa also received the CHFA Medallion in the premium leather upholstered suites category.
A total of 27 Medallions were awarded, from a field of 111 entries. With the exception of marketing concepts, each product category is divided into three sub-categories based on retail price ranges — popular, premium and prestige, or entry level, midrange and high end.
A.P. Inds. won in the marketing concepts category for its new A Store in A Store gallery program.
