Accessory lines offer add-on opportunity

At last month's High Point market, several desk accessory programs were introduced or expanded.
Among them, Wolf Designs, a 169-year-old London firm that has traditionally specialized in travel accessories and jewelry cases, added to its lineup of desk sets.
Importing from Asia, Wolf offered several series of leather-clad pads, organizers, picture frames and other desktop accessories. The company's SoHo collection is available in black, red, black-tooled and brown-tooled versions.
Debuting a line of desk accessories for SOHO furniture specialists, Office Enhancements by TurboProps brought out multi-piece packages of coordinated office tools and accessories designed to sell as add-ons with furniture.
"Based on the comments I've heard from retailers, it's probably better to put all the small pieces together in a single SKU," said Eric Shupack, president of TurboProps.
"The pad will be sold separately as will the stacking trays, but the retailer doesn't have to keep track of all the smaller pieces individually."
Shupack said the Office Enhancements package will retail for around $89; that includes a pencil holder, stapler, letter opener, business card holder with two-pen set, four-by-six inch picture frame, letter holder and Post-It note holder.
Besides beefing up SOHO furniture sales, the accessories also add visual interest to store displays.
"The potential for add-on sales is powerful," Shupack said. "But just as important, retailers can add visual excitement and value to the display and purchase of SOHO furniture."
In addition to the desktop accessories, TurboProps also has developed a series of three wastebaskets in two finishes — polished stainless steel and satin.
