Mulberry, Fla. — Mulberry, Fla.— Top 100 Southeast chain W.S. Badcock has converted four more stores to its larger, brighter Badcock Home Furniture & more concept. The stores are in Sanford, N.C.; Melbourne, Fla.; Sevierville, Tenn.; and Cartersville, Ga.
The concept includes a product line of more than 4,000 items, a more spacious store display and a new logo. The Badcock & more format, designed by GRID2 International, was introduced in January 2000 to better serve existing customers and appeal to a broader, younger customer base. The format is set to be phased into 80% to 90% of Babcock's 330 stores by 2007.
"We are very pleased with our new stores and the response we are getting from our customers," said Don Marks, president of the credit-oriented retailer.
Badcock is celebrating its 100th year in business in 2004. More than 270 of its stores are dealer owned and operated. It ranked No. 18 on Furniture/Today's latest list of Top 100 stores, with 2003 furniture, bedding and accessory sales of $439 million, up 2.8% from the previous year.
