3 factories earn EFEC seal

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, October 13, 2003

Lexington Home Brands, Pulaski and Vaughan have received certification under EFEC, an environmental program promoted by the American Furniture Manufacturers Assn.

EFEC, short for Enhancing Furniture's Environmental Culture, is a voluntary environmental management system the AMFA launched in 1999 to promote and reward environmental excellence.

"EFEC has helped us understand the environmental impact of our processes and has provided tools that allow a strategic approach to our environmental programs," said Stuart Stapleton, corporate environmental manager for Lexington. "Simple compliance with environmental rules and regulations has never been enough. We want to become the leading supporters in our community and in our industry."

Companies in the program agree to become leaders in ways that benefit society, the economy and the environment while maintaining a strong commitment to consumers, the community, employees and shareholders.
