10 finalists up for WithIt's WOW awards

High Point — Ten industry leaders are finalists for the 2003 WOW awards, given annually by Women in the Home Industries Today, or WithIt.
The awards will be presented in a celebration at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, in the Courtyard at Market Square during the International Home Furnishings Market in High Point.
The Legacy Award is given to a woman of achievement who has made significant lifetime contributions to the home furnishings industry. Nominees are Jena Hall, president, Jena Hall Designs and Marketing; the late Katherine Lambeth, who was chief executive officer and president, Erwin-Lambeth; and Connie Lineberry, vice president of marketing, Reed Business Information, parent company of Furniture/Today.
The Mentoring Award goes to a retail executive or retail organization that has fostered the advocacy, development or promotion of women in their companies. Nominees are Clive Lubner, CEO, Robb & Stucky, Fort Myers, Fla., and Lyn Peterson, president, Motif Designs, New Rochelle, N.Y.
The Education Award is given to a manufacturing executive or company for the creation of programs to educate associates, retailers or consumers about home furnishings. Nominees are Kathleen Ammemueller, director of education and training, Bassett Furniture Inds.; Kim Shaver, director, marketing communications and brand manager, Hooker Furniture; and Gale Steves, president, Open House Productions.
The Future Leadership Award is given to an individual under 40 for outstanding achievement and demonstrated potential to become an industry leader. Nominees are Jana Platina-Phillips, creative marketing director, Gelberg Braid, and Catherine Shearson, president, Kingsway Fabrics.
