South Sioux City, Neb. — Cargo Transporters has been presented a Platinum award by Great West Casualty Co. as part of the 2002 National Fleet Safety Awards Program.
"We are proud to receive this award for the fourth year in a row," said John Pope, president of Cargo. "With our trucks traveling more than 4.2 million miles a month, our first priority is to insure the safety of our drivers and the motoring public. This award would not be possible if it were not for our professional drivers. We have an excellent group of drivers that focus on safety. With increased traffic volumes and more road construction, they have a very challenging job."
Carriers were recognized for achieving a low preventable accident frequency per million miles of operation. The award program recognizes fleets in similar operations with awards based on their year-end preventable accident results. The carriers then receive a Platinum, Gold, Silver or Participatory award.
