Lexington launches nine galleries

Lexington, N.C. — Lexington Home Brands has opened nine galleries at eight dealers who have joined the Lexington Home Retail program.
Bacon's Furniture in Port Charlotte, Fla., has just completed a 25,000-square-foot addition to its store which includes a 10,000-square-foot LHB gallery. Bill Bacon is president of the store.
Colony House in Centreville, Va., has opened its second store, which includes a 4,800-square-foot LHB gallery showcasing such Lexington brands as Bob Timberlake, Nautica Home, Tommy Bahama, Waverly, Southern Living, Palmer Home and Susan Sargent.
Beverly Hall Furniture Galleries is installing two LHB galleries. The company's store in Roswell, Ga., opened a 5,000-square-foot gallery this month, and a 5,000-square-foot gallery is set to open in May in Beverly Hall's Buford, Ga., store.
Classic Interiors in Livonia, Mich., has an 8,200-square-foot LHB gallery.
Hufford Furniture in Chicago has installed a 6,000-square-foot gallery.
In latter 2002, LHB galleries were opened in Propper Brothers, Manayunk, Pa., and Pala Brothers Furniture in Elsmere, Del. Both stores have 4,500-square-foot galleries. Also, Surfside Casual Furniture in Somers Point, N.J., has installed a 5,000-square-foot LHB gallery.
Bob Stec, Lexington chairman and chief executive officer, said the manufacturer and importer has about 260 galleries in stores nationwide.
The galleries are part of Lexington's three-year-old selective distribution strategy. Key vendors include Louis Shanks, Boyles, Mathis Bros., Gladhill Furniture, Gorman's, Treasures and Baer's.
Norris Furniture in Fort Myers, Fla., and Classic Galleries in Huntington, N.Y., operate freestanding LHB stores showcasing the LHB brand portfolio. The portfolio includes Nautica, Bob Timberlake, Tommy Bahama, Southern Living and Palmer Home, plus several in-house brands.
