Bemco's electronic ad efforts roll on

Des Plaines, Ill. — The advanced technology of electronic publishing has changed the way Bemco Associates does business, and in a way that benefits the company's retailer base.
Bemco's electronic publishing program began in 1993, when President Daryl Tarbutton recognized the importance of increasing his knowledge of computerized prepress/press operations to support the company's advertising and marketing programs.
"I started taking courses to learn QuarkXPress, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop," said Tarbutton. "The experience clearly demonstrated that we could use this technology to make Bemco retailers more successful by providing them with CDs containing newspaper ads and inserts which are easy to use and customize."
Bemco has released its fifth such annual ad kit. Called BemcoAds 2003, the kit provides 12 newspaper ads on one disc for a full year's worth of advertising. The CDs contain all the artwork and fonts, and allow for customized pricing and retailer information.
"These ads are easy for retailers to use, convert and distribute to newspapers," Tarbutton said. The ads themselves cover a wide range of themes, including new ads for Bemco's Home Improvement, Clean Sweep, Warehouse and Labor Day sales, as well as perennial favorites such as Memorial and Veterans Day sales.
In addition to BemcoAds, the company also provides retailers with Special Events Ad Kits throughout the year. For example, one Bemco Truckload Sale Special Event Ad Kit included five Truckload Sale ads. These support the efforts of Bemco retailers who want to run more than 12 mattress ads a year.
