By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, April 28, 2003

Michael Sheets has been named director of manufacturing at La-Z-Boy, and former Bassett executive Steve Rindskopf has been appointed corporate vice president of human resources.

Sheets will manage operations of the manufacturing and industrial engineering departments at La-Z-Boy's eight U.S. plants. He reports to Larry Woolace, vice president of manufacturing for La-Z-Boy.

Rindskopf is responsible for designing and implementing human resources initiatives in support of corporate objectives. He reports to Gerald Kiser, president and chief executive officer.

Sheets will work with plant managers and engineers, as well as the six-person staff at corporate headquarters in Monroe, and will be involved in evaluating new equipment and technologies.

He has over 11 years experience in manufacturing operations management, most recently as director of operations at Teledyne Continental Motors in Toledo, Ohio. Before that he was operations manager at Ingersoll-Rand.

Rindskopf in 2001 launched his own human resources and employee relations outsourcing business in Winston-Salem, N.C., after four years at Bassett. Before that he spent 17 years in human resources with Sara Lee Corp.
