Norman Simpson, industry veteran

Hickory, N.C. — Norman Reece Simpson, a home furnishings sales representative and executive for 32 years, has died. He was 61.
Simpson began his career in the furniture industry as a sales representative for De-Soto Furniture, where he later became national sales manager of the upholstery division. He also represented manufacturers including Artisans Guild, Catnapper, Orleans Furniture, Niroflex and Global Furniture.
Simpson received the Ab Fanjoy Memorial Award from the Virginia-Carolina Home Furnishings Representatives Assn., where he was also a past president. He also received the Dean of IHFRA award from the International Home Furnishings Representatives Assn., where he was also a past governor.
Global Furniture had honored him as Sales Representative of the Year, and with the Outstanding Shipments Performance and Million Dollar Round Table Award.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca, and one son.
