Indianapolis — New product, educational sessions and a keynote speech by a profit-boosting psychologist will highlight the Unfinished Furniture Assn.'s Education Day here May 31 and its National Convention and Trade Show, June 1–3.
The show, with the theme "Gear Up for Indy," will take place in the Indiana Convention Center here.
Education Day features keynote speaker Samantha Kurtz, a clinical psychologist and consultant who specializes in streamlining the relationship between management and staff to increase profits. Breakout sessions will focus on maintaining a store image to sell to customers, options on finishing services, consumer psychology and expectations, and inventory management.
Added to the show for 2003 is the New Product Showcase. More than 100 exhibitors will show finished and unfinished furniture, home accessories, finishing products, software and more during the three-day convention.
Another event will be a celebration for certified members to mark the conclusion of the first year of the brand awareness campaign, "Real Wood Furniture — Finished Your Way." A special session will tell how the certification program works and how it contributes to success.
"The 2003 National Convention and Trade Show provides a vital experience for industry professionals," said Sylvia Thompson, president of the UFA, an association of 650 retailers, manufacturers and sales representatives in the United States and Canada. "Our education and networking opportunities are invaluable to wood furniture professionals."
