Bridgewater, N.J. — Industrial adhesives manufacturer National Starch and Chemical Co., based here, and Collano, a Swiss manufacturer of one-component polyurethane adhesives, have agreed to form a joint venture.
Called Purbond AG, the venture will specialize in the manufacture and marketing of moisture-curing liquid polyurethane adhesives for the engineered wood market. Purbond will formally start operations in the second half of 2003 and will be based in Sempach-Station, Switzerland.
Walter Stampfli, vice president of sales and marketing at Collano's engineered wood division, will manage the venture.
"This is great news for customers, who will now have access to market-leading adhesives and technical support for engineered wood applications, wherever," said Stampfli. "Purbond will build on the worldwide presence of National Starch and the specialty knowledge of Collano to become the global resource for adhesive systems for wood."
