New York — Century Furniture launched its Oscar de la Renta furniture collection with a party at its showroom in the New York Design Center.
The collection will be launched at retail in August at the Macy's West flagship store on Union Square in San Francisco as well as three other stores, though plans for the others have not been finalized, said Paul Fitzpatrick, senior vice president, home for the department store group.
An exact date for the San Francisco launch hasn't been set, but De La Renta will make a personal appearance, and it's likely to coincide with an appearance he will make at nearby Saks Fifth Avenue for his apparel.
"We see this as an important event for Macy's in furniture with someone of his design stature," said Fitzpatrick. While square footage for the presentation on Union Square has not yet been finalized, the signature dining table will be part of the assortment. "It's a spectacular piece," he said.
