Executives

Southern Forest Products Assn.

Kenner, La. — Lionel J. Landry has been named president of the Southern Forest Products Assn. He succeeds the retiring Karl W. Lindberg.

Landry began his career at SFPA in 1966 as office manager. He later was promoted to corporate secretary and exposition director.

Digges Morgan will assume the corporate secretary post and also serve as director of administration. His career with SFPA began in 1984 as assistant vice president of public affairs. He became government affairs vice president in 1986.

Forest Stewardship Council U.S.

Washington — The Forest Stewardship Council U.S. has named Edward "Ned" Daly vice president of operations and appointed Michael Washburn vice president of forestry and marketing.

Daly has served as FSC-U.S. board chair, forest policy director for the Consumer's Choice Council, director of the Resource Conservation Alliance and director of the Environmental Resource Information Network in Washington.

Washburn most recently was director of the program on forest certification at Yale University's School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. He also was Yale's liaison to the sustainable development staff of the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture's Forest Service.

The FSC promotes responsible forest management worldwide and certifies forests managed to high environmental, social and economic standards.

Handy Button Machine Corp.

Melrose Park, Ill. — Michael L. Baritz has been elected president and chief executive officer of industry supplier Handy Button Machine Corp. Previously executive vice president and chief operating officer, he is a great-grandson of Morris Perlman, who co-founded the company in Chicago in 1898.

Another great-grandson, Kenneth P. Shonfeld, has been promoted from vice president of marketing and sales to executive vice president. His father, Willard L. Shonfeld, moves to chairman from president and CEO, a post he has held since 1995.

Handy Button makes metal stampings, assemblies and plastic molded items for the furniture, apparel, automotive and other industries.

Honors

Hammary Furniture

Lenoir, N.C. — Hammary Furniture has honored its top marketing representatives.

Salesman of the Year is Al Hill, who covers northern Florida. Bob Lanzner was honored with the President's Cup. He handles the Southern California territory.

Salesmen honored for achieving over $1 million in sales were Martin Benson, Jay Berger, Bill Bohlken, Frank Caldwell, Ron Carson, Bill Clark, Mike DeVito, Gary Dore, Steve Dwyer, Greg Doyle, Shelly Eisenberg, Al Hill, Rich Huber, Ross Johnston, Ben Kostick, Bob Lanzner, John Patterson, Warren Smith, Ed Urbanski, Mike Weinstein, John Yancey and David Yount.

Jonns Interiors

Montgomeryville, Pa. — Harry Kahn, chairman of retailer Jonns Interiors and two Bassett Furniture Direct stores, has received The Philadelphia Chapter of the Explorers Club Explorer of the Year award for 2002.

He was recognized for his longstanding and generous support as well as for his world travel.

MMPI

Chicago — Merchandise Mart Properties Inc. has named Kimberly Daley director of marketing, commercial office and retail leasing.

She previously was public relations manager for MMPI's residential furnishings trade shows, the Kitchen, Bath & Building Design Center and the company's consumer shows.

In her new post, Daley will oversee all prospect marketing, special events, media and community relations. She reports to Tom Kennedy, MMPI's executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Elizabeth Cooley has been named to replace Daley as public relationship manager for the MMPI shows she handled. Cooley previously was promotions manager for the retail operations of New York's Museum of Modern Art.

She reports to Jennifer Woolford, vice president of market- ing communications at MMPI.
