AFMA details standards on Web site

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, January 13, 2003

A new Web page featuring furniture standards and specifications is online at the American Furniture Manufacturers Assn. member Web site, www.afma4u.org.

AFMA teamed with the Furniture Manufacturing and Management Center at North Carolina State University to launch the page.

"AFMA saw the need for a repository of standards where our members could go to one location and find the requirements they need for the manufacturing of furniture," said Bill Perdue, AFMA's director of environmental, safety and technical affairs. "We have placed every pertinent standard in this single source for easy access."

The page includes standards for upholstery, case goods and recliner construction, and for fabric, leather and foam. It also has a glossary of terms for the Joint Industry Fabric Standards Committee, a tagging law manual, test procedures videos, and areas on front-burner issues and news and notes.

Additional features will be added as needed, Perdue said.
