Plano, Texas — Rent-A-Center raised $244,425 during its 2004 campaign for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. Rent-A-Center Chairman and CEO Mark Speese presented a check to the non-profit organization during its centennial celebration in New York City.
For the second year in a row, customers at Rent-A-Center stores contributed a dollar and signed their name to paper eggs that were displayed in the stores. Contributions from customers and employees totaled $144,425; Rent-A-Center matched $100,000.
"Our co-workers really got behind this campaign for Big Brothers Big Sisters because they know it has such a positive impact on children," said Speese. "Several of our stores hosted agencies that were able to sign adults and children up for the program. The bottom line is that this organization helps strengthen families, and everybody benefits."
