Golfers raise nearly $15,000 at Rosenberg memorial event

Syosset, N.Y. — More than 100 golfers hit the links at Woodcrest Club here May 17 for the 2004 Annual Greater New York Home Furnishings Assn.'s Alan Rosenberg Memorial Golf Classic.
The event honored the memory of association member Alan Rosenberg, the late CEO of Levitz Home Furnishings Inc., and raised $14,800 for the Alan Rosenberg Memorial Fund for Cancer Research.
Thirty-two individual and corporate sponsors contributed to the tournament, which also featured a cocktail party and dinner. Lou Massood received the association's Meadoff Award and Simon Kaplan received the Jerry Gans Memorial Award, both for their contributions to the success of GNYHFA.
Golf winners of the day included Mike Egan, closest to the pin; Howard Goldstein, closest to the line; Kevin Warnke, longest drive; John Elletto Sr., John Elletto Jr., Joe Elletto and Tom Elletto, first- place team with a score of 68; Tony Bellarosa, John Solimine, Murray Engle and Norman Waxman, second place team with a score of 70; David Melnitsky, putting contest; and Sidney Kleiner, Marvin Litman, Gary Sapirstein and Ed Ryder, most honest team.
