Recycling program ready for Bella-Dura

Garfield, N.J. — Wearbest Sil-Tex Mills, the maker of Bella-Dura performance fabrics, and yarn producer American Fibers and Yarns have developed a recycling program for Bella-Dura products.
According to Wearbest, fabrics sent to American Fibers and Yarns' facility in Bainbridge, Ga., will enter a recycling stream that will produce a variety of goods. Energy-saving manufacturing practices are used during the recycling process.
The fabrics fall under a new five-year warranty for residential use, which Wearbest has extended from three years.
The proprietary Bella-Dura fiber itself is a byproduct of waste. The ability to recycle the fabrics (the fiber can be re-extruded up to 10 times) reduces the environmental impact of fiber, yarn and fabric production.
"We spent three years in research and development with American Fibers and Yarns to make the proprietary Bella-Dura fiber, and one of the appealing factors to me in the development of this fiber was the fact that Bella-Dura was environmentally friendly," said Irwin Gasner, president and CEO of Wearbest.
