Piatt resigns from Emerald

Tacoma, Wash. — Mark Piatt has resigned as vice president of Emerald Home Furnishings for personal reasons after more than 15 years with the importer.
Piatt, along with President David Beckmann and Chief Financial Officer Jeanine Cassino, were joint owners of the company, which sources product from China. Beckmann remains principal shareholder, and said Piatt will sell his stake back to the company.
Piatt was not available for comment, but Beckmann said, "Mark had a great experience here. He wants to take some time off now, but he will return to the industry. He is a furniture guy."
Five years ago, Beckmann, Cassino and Piatt teamed to buy out then-owner Evan Ritchie, who now handles key accounts for Emerald.
The company is seeking someone to fill Piatt's role in product development, sales and marketing for wood products.
