High Point — Industry veteran Eric Easter is joining fast-growing case goods importer Huntington Furniture as CEO, effective Aug. 7.
Easter was executive vice president of Conover, N.C.-based Top 100 store Hendricks Furniture Group for the past year-and-a-half, and earlier was executive vice president of manufacturer-importer Thomasville Furniture Inds. Before that, he was president of Top 100 retailer Kittle's, based in Indianapolis.
He joins Chairman Jerry Chan and President David Miller as top executives at Huntington. Former CEO Mike Brundage left the company last year.
Huntington, launched two and a half years ago, owns a manufacturing complex in Dongguan, China, a factory near Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and warehouses in China, Vietnam and High Point.
Last year, Huntington acquired the former Pennsylvania House building at Green Drive and Wrenn Street in High Point as a market showroom. It also plans to show at the Las Vegas Market in a permanent showroom in Building C starting in July 2008, Easter said.
"The company is committed to aggressive growth, both organically and by strategic acquisitions," he said.
Huntington now focuses on midpriced bedroom and dining room, but is looking to expand into upholstery and occasional, Easter said. He declined to disclose sales volume.
