Simmons upgrades Web site

Atlanta — Simmons has revamped its Web site to make it easier for consumers to find the bed best suited for them — and to sleep better once they find that bed.
The Web site at www.simmons.com features a new My Dream Bed section that quickly translates consumers' sleep needs into a recommended Simmons sleep set. The quiz asks the consumers what they are looking for in their perfect bed and other basic questions about their sleep habits, and then matches those answers to the Simmons innerspring or specialty sleep brand that best meets those needs.
"Many consumers do not know what mattress will best suit their needs," the company said.
Key product information is available on the Web site for each of Simmons' signature lines — Beautyrest, Beautyrest Black, Natural Care, ComforPedic by Simmons and Simmons Kids.
In addition, consumers visiting the site can quickly accessorize their mattresses with pillows, mattress pads and other sleep products.
Simmons officials said the revamped Web site is designed to make it fun for consumers to find the perfect mattress.
The site also contains sleep tips, featuring the latest information from sleep expert James Maas, author of the book, "Power Sleep." He explains how sleep affects a person's health and provides tips for obtaining the most restful and healthiest sleep possible.
"We have set out to help consumers be as knowledgeable as possible as they begin the mattress shopping process," said Tim Oakhill, executive vice president of marketing at Simmons.
The Web site includes several mattress shopping guides, including one for girls and one for women. Additional guides, including "A Man's Guide to Test-Driving a Mattress," will be added soon.
In addition, the Web site has a section on sleep safety with a statement from Simmons CEO Charlie Eitel. He talks about the new federal fire-resistant mattress standard and Simmons' commitment to providing safe materials in its mattresses.
The site also says that the Simmons Simgard fire barrier "is non-toxic."
"Even though fire-resistant mattresses may save hundreds of lives every year," Eitel says in his statement, "we understand that people have questions about the materials used to create fire barriers, and whether prolonged exposure to these materials poses a health risk. I can assure you that each of the components used in our fire barrier have been deemed safe by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission."
Simmons also cautions that while the company is continually improving its fire-resistant mattresses, "mattress technology alone cannot guarantee fire safety." The Web site offers tips for safe sleep, including using smoke detectors, having a fire escape plan, and using appliances with care.
