Container-direct Prestige Motion to debut in Tupelo
Joan Gunin -- Furniture Today, February 18, 2008
Mays Landing, N.J. — Michael Parasmo will launch his container-direct mid-priced motion seating company, Prestige Motion, at the Tupelo Market this month.
Parasmo most recently was an equity owner in motion specialist PeopLoungers from 1999 to 2007. He has been in the industry for 36 years, starting in retail and then as a sales representative.
Before PeopLoungers, he was a partner or equity owner in companies including Kroehler, Futorian, BenchCraft, Gentry and River Oaks.
Prestige Motion is importing product from southern China into the United States, Russia and Saudi Arabia. The operation is container-direct and has no warehouse.
"Most motion companies have too many restrictions for their dealers," Parasmo said. "At Prestige, we have put together a program with a choice of 15 to 20 fabrics to allow dealers to 'have it their way' with many options."
He said it is not a married program but is "Americanized ... like an American factory with better prices out of China."
The offerings include such features as consoles, drop-down tables, sleepers, recliners and power options. Although motion-driven, the collection also includes matching stationary styles in leather and fabric covers.
"We took the best of everything that's out there," Parasmo said.
He has developed sales teams in all states but is still seeking some representatives to fill key territories.
In Tupelo, Prestige Motion will show in space MB-D3012.
It also will exhibit at High Point Market in April at a location to be determined.
