Art Van update focuses on lifestyle

Warren, Mich. — Art Van is in the midst of a multimillion-dollar renovation plan that will change the face of its stores from gallery-heavy environments to lifestyle themes, which the retailer says will better reflect shopping habits.
It's also getting out of the Drexel Heritage store business, with plans to shutter the format at the 12,000-square-foot showroom in Bloomfield Hills and convert it to an Art Van Clearance Center. The retailer said the move — after less than 18 months in business — is part of an effort to concentrate on its core business.
Art Van also has three other projects under way, said Chris Morrisroe, communications director. The Top 100 company is almost finished remodeling its flagship Warren store in greater Detroit, and is rolling out the new look at
