ITC investigates antidumping

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, March 17, 2008

The U.S. International Trade Commission said last week that imports of uncovered innersprings from China, South Africa and Vietnam pose a reasonable indication of material injury to domestic producers.

The announcement, posted in the Federal Register, was a response to a petition that components maker Leggett & Platt filed Dec. 31 with the ITC and the U.S. Department of Commerce, alleging that the imports were being sold at less than fair value in the U.S. market.

The ITC gave notice that it will begin the final phase of its investigation. If the ITC rules against manufacturers in the responding countries, the case will go to the DOC for further investigation. The DOC would ultimately determine any antidumping duty rates.
