Myriad users share growth strategies

San Diego — While the theme of Myriad's annual users conference changes each year, the goal of company co-owners Carolyn Crowley and Russell Higgins stays the same: to create an opportunity for customers to talk with each other and Myriad about top-of-mind issues.
This year's conference, with "Evolving" as its theme, was no different. For example, a Best Business Practices session allowed retailers to share their most successful strategies on a variety of topics, ranging from how to entice more consumers into the store to the most effective ways to reach customers via e-mail.
Retailers also took part in roundtable sessions that focused on keeping track of vendor credits and inventory, retail forecasting, accounting procedures, the Internet, e-commerce and more.
Myriad personnel explained how the company's software could be used to augment many of the solutions brought up at the roundtable discussions.
In addition, Myriad also invited a number of industry executives to address the group. Ray Allegrezza, Furniture/Today's editor in chief, provided an overview of the industry that also featured sales projections by category, state and retail channel.
Liz Goodgold of San Diego-based Duh! Marketing spoke on "The 7 Secrets to Evolving Your Brand to Grow Your Business," and Lorna Riley, CEO of Learning Solutions, a West Coast firm, gave a talk called "Off the Chart Results: Four States to Evolving Your Business."
In keeping with tradition, the Myriad conference also provided numerous opportunities for networking and socializing, including a visit to the San Diego Zoo.
