HFIA helps New Orleans

Dallas — The Home Furnishings Independents Assn. will devote a full day at its upcoming annual meeting in New Orleans to help Hurricane Katrina victims rebuild and recover.
HFIA members from around the country are donating furniture, which New Orleans retailer Doerr Furniture is storing. The company's president and CEO, Julian Doerr Mutter, is chairman of the HFIA.
On the second day of the annual meeting, set for May 7–8, attendees will volunteer their time and furnish several restored homes. Doerr Furniture staff will load company trucks and deliver the merchandise to the homes, where HFIA members will help uncrate and unwrap it and arrange it in the rooms.
"Hurricane Katrina was one of our country's worst natural disasters," said Mary Frye, HFIA president. "It's been a long road back for those victims and many are still waiting for a helping hand."
