Safavieh
New York — Scott Kraus has been promoted to regional manager for Safavieh and will relocate to the company's Madison Avenue wholesale showroom in New York. Previously, he was based at the company's Port Washington, N.Y., headquarters.
"Kraus has done an excellent job in building his (New Jersey) territory since joining the company in 2006, and will now manage sales in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio," said Cyrus Yaraghi, a principal of Safavieh.
In his new post, Kraus reports to Yaraghi.
Before joining Safavieh, Kraus had been national sales manager for Royal Intercontinental, a New Jersey-based rug importer, for six years. Earlier, he was with retailer Designs for Living in New York.

P/K Lifestyles
New York — Pam Maffei-Toolan has become vice president of design for P/K Lifestyles, a division of decorative fabric supplier P/Kaufmann.
Maffei-Toolan has been working with P/K Lifestyles as the design director for its Waverly fabric license since last year, when P/Kaufmann acquired the decorative fabrics license. She also has been vice president, design, for NexCen Home Studios since it acquired the Waverly brand from F. Schumacher at the same time.
In her new post, she will work full time with the P/Kaufmann division.

ARTS
San Diego — Michael Julson, vice president and chief technical officer of software provider Escalate Retail, has been appointed to the board of directors for the Assn. for Retail Technology Standards, a division of the National Retail Federation.
The ARTS board identifies standards to be developed, sets program priorities, approves new and revised standards prior to public release and maintains budgetary oversight for ARTS. Information technology executives from retailers and vendors serve on the board.

Haverty Cup
High Point — Michelle Renee Johnson, a High Point University senior with a double major and a 3.93 grade point average, has been named this year's winner of the Haverty Cup as the outstanding graduate of HPU's home furnishings programs.
Johnson, who will graduate in May with degrees in home furnishings marketing and interior design, received the prestigious Celia Moh Scholarship for the past two academic years. Last year, she was named the most outstanding interior design student.
Johnson received a $2,500 cash award. Her name will be engraved on the Haverty Cup, established in 1988 by Rawson Haverty Sr., former chairman of Atlanta-based retailer Havertys, to honor the most outstanding HPU home furnishings graduate and to encourage young people to pursue careers in the industry.
