ATLANTA — Aaron Rents has promoted Robert “Robin” Loudermilk Jr. to president and CEO, succeeding his father, R. Charlie Loudermilk Sr., in the CEO post.
The younger Loudermilk had been president and chief operating officer of the rental and rent-to-own retailer since 1997.
Charlie Loudermilk remains chairman of the company, which he founded in 1955 by renting folding chairs to auction houses for 10 cents a day.
“Although I will be reducing my day-to-day responsibilities, I will be actively involved assisting Robin in setting strategy and in other areas as needed,” said the elder Loudermilk.
The company has not named a replacement COO, a company spokesperson said.
Robin Loudermilk joined Aaron's in 1985 as an assistant store manager. He has been a director of the company since 1983 and has been president and COO since 1997.
Aaron Rents has more than 1,565 company-operated and franchised stores in 48 states and Canada.
